REGARDING your report (LET, August 28) about residents' protests over a planned new outdoor pursuits centre at Blacksnape, this smacks of "not in my back yard."
Do the residents of Cranberry Lane not realise that we all have to make sacrifices in the name of progress? Services such as shops, take-aways and supermarkets have to go somewhere -- as long as it's not in Cranberry Lane, that is.
At the top of Cranberry Lane, 30 years ago, there was a pub which brought top-line acts, such as Cilla Black, to the North West.
People who went to see these acts managed to get to and from this pub every weekend night using this very same narrow lane that is said now to be not suitable for the public to use, without anybody having to get a petition going.
So why not compromise before things get out of hand.
You never know, the people of Cranberry Lane may well enjoy using this facility if they give it half a chance.
