WHITEFIELD Golf Club was this week mourning the death of young professional golfer Daniel McArevey
It is believed the 21-year-old was found hanging on Sunday, September 7.
Daniel became a professional golfer at the club, in Higher Lane, as a teenager and worked there until three years ago when he moved to Standish Golf Club.
More recently he worked part-time as a doorman but it is understood he was unemployed at the time of his death.
Daniel dreamed of being a golf professional while at school and he left Mount St Joseph High, in Farnworth, at the age of 16 to pursue his career.
Close friend and fellow golf professional, Michael Halliwell (29), worked with Daniel at both golf clubs and is currently back working at Whitefield.
He said: "It is such a shock. Daniel was the type of lad who did not let things bother him. He loved his sport. Not just golf but football and horses too."
Daniel's funeral was held on Tuesday at St Gregory's Church, Farnworth, followed by burial at Heaton Cemetery.
