GETTING his kit off has helped to pile up the pounds to help a sick little girl.
A recent "Half Monty" striptease by firefighter Clive Hopkinson at the Chicago Rock Cafe in Bury, together with a raffle and ticket sales, raised £1,300 for the Dana Carroll Appeal.
Firefighters at Whitefield station alone have raised £5,000 for Dana, of Pilling Street, Walshaw, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
Dana's fight for survival has already meant the amputation of her left arm and part of the collar bone.
Station officer Steve Simpson, of Whitefield fire station, said: "Dana is such a brave little lady."
The Carroll family's local councillor has helped to raise £1,000 for the appeal.
Coun Denise Bigg, who represents Elton, has spent the last two months holding dinners, tombolas and collections to raise £1,000, which will go towards an electronic arm for Dana when she is older.
Coun Bigg said: "The money that has been raised in such a short time is unbelievable. I think the family are going to keep the money in a trust to be used on a special arm when she is older. Dana is such a brave little girl."
The plucky youngster is looking also forward to a trip to EuroDisney, funded by the local business community.
