POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an indecent assault on a 15-year-old girl who was groped on her bottom on the Old Tram Road, Lostock Hall, as she walked home from school at 9.20am on Wednesday, September 18, feeling unwell.
She was aware of someone behind her as she approached the junction of Todd Lane North and a man in his early twenties then ran passed her and stopped.
The girl walked passed him and he grabbed her bottom and spun her around and grabbed her by the hips with both hands. The girl then pushed him away and ran off.
She was unharmed but in a state of shock.
The incident is similar to an assault on a young girl last November which occurred near the A6 on the Old Tram Road in Walton-le-Dale.
Police are not ruling out that it may be the same offender and are appealing for people to come forward who may recognise his description.
The man is white and said to be of large build and about 5ft 8ins tall. He had closely shaven blond or light brown hair in a number one cut.
He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms. His nose looked flat like it had previously been broken.
Anyone with information can call Bamber Bridge CID on 415744 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
