MOTORBIKE ace Robert Barber is hoping to capitalise on a string of racing successes after having his exploits documented by a TV film crew.
The former Coney Green High pupil, who had his season filmed for a documentary on the cable channel Men and Motors, hopes to secure enough sponsorship to move his career up a gear.
The 23-year-old has powered ahead of competitors in New Era Superclub contests, clinching winners' trophies at such prestigious venues as Cadwell Park and Snetterton.
Next season, the data field engineer aims to play a role in the highly regarded 600cc British Supersport series.
As a private racer, he must raise enough money to cover the cost of repairs, transport and fees.
And although Robert already has sponsors, he expects to need an extra £50,000 for a full Supersport series. While not working, Robert spends much of his time working on his Suzukis with dad Phil at their home off Dumers Lane, Radcliffe.
Cameramen filming the show, Scratchin' , joined Robert during much of the last season, and even visited the house.
Robert, also known as "Bullet Barber", said: "Having the film crew with me was different and could sometimes be hard work, but they were good lads and I did enjoy it.
"For me, the aim now is to get established as a private racer and then hopefully to get picked up by a professional team. I know that I can compete at that level because we could afford to do just one round last year and were able to qualify. Unfortunately we had a problem with the engine.
"This takes up all of my time at the moment when I am not working to help pay for it. Sponsorship could be a life changing experience and mean the difference between becoming a pro or staying an amateur."
The episode featuring Robert, who is pictured with some of the trophies he has won recently, is screened on September 29 at 8pm. Anyone willing or interested in sponsoring his efforts can contact him on 07957 801812.
