THE case against one of two brothers charged in connection with the death of a man outside a pub in Rawtenstall town centre has been dropped.
Paul Mcdonald, 21, of Lavender Hill, Rawtenstall was charged with the murder of David Taylor in July but the case has now been discontinued.
His brother, Andrew Mcdonald, 18, of Granby Road, Manchester, remains in custody on a murder charge and will appear for a plea and directions hearing at Preston Crown Court next month.
David Taylor, 25, of Newchurch, died after an alleged assault outside the Sun Inn in Bank Street at about 11pm on Thursday, July 17.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said charges against Paul were dropped after a meeting with police decided there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case.
They added: "After a full consultation with the police it was decided that the case was not strong enough to proceed.
"David Taylor's family have been informed."
