IT has come to mine and the committees' attention that following the acceptance of Havering (Essex) Council, to fly the St George's flag all year round, Fylde and Blackpool Borough Council should follow suit by flying the flag at each town hall in the Fylde.
As the flag is the national symbol of England, we believe it should be supported rather than looked down upon.
Despite many problems, this country has a rich heritage and a history to be proud of. Therefore, let's celebrate our culture -- it is only fair, when you look at Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the publicity of their culture through the media i.e. St Patrick's Day celebrations.
In conclusion, we should 'fly the flag' high from the town halls of the Fylde and nationally.
Dean Williamson, (St George's Committee), Representative for Blackpool and Fylde, St Annes
