HEARTY congratulations to Mr Gill, the first winner of Bury's "tenants lotto". He gets his reward for doing something he is supposed to do . . . pay his bills. I thought it was only children we bribed to be "good".
The council assures us that taxpayers will not foot the bill, the money coming from the council housing review. So is it OK then if an old lady loses her allowance for home help?
Perhaps I will call the Nationwide and haggle for free Marks and Spencer vouchers each time I pay my mortgage. Somehow I don't fancy my chances. I will just lose my house if I don't pay!
