YOUNG Bury cricketer Ammar Baig is a star in the making.
For, the 14-year-old opening batsman has won a two-year sponsorship deal with leading cricketing company Grey Nicholls.
Talented Ammar won the deal following excellent displays at the Lords Taverners competition in Arundel on the 18th August.
Representing Greater Manchester, Ammar scored the first century of his short career hot on the heels of a majestic 92. The 111 he scored was also the first century ever scored at the competition.
Ammar has played first-team Cricket for his club Bury and also turns out for the town team. To cap it all off, he captains his school's cricket side.
He was voted best batsman at the Arundel competition and will receive free batting equipment for the next year together with a 50% discount the year after.
Ammar says his next target is to carry on his excellent form into next season and earn himself a regular place in the Lancashire County Cricket Club team at his age level.
And who would bet against him doing just that?
