I KEEP seeing readers' complaints about the speed cameras and that many think it is a money-making scheme. Well, how about this for a stealth tax?
The council will shortly be sending out bills for residents-only parking permits and yet there are no traffic wardens to enforce them. The ones we see in Blackburn only cover the town centre.
It is most irritating to see cars without permits parked in the Infirmary Area, some on double yellow lines, (without disabled persons' passes) and some even blocking driveways. Yet we are expected to pay to park in our own street.
Drivers park their cars and even after reading the minuscule residents-only signs, walk off. Some say they didn't see the signs, others are really abusive if one points to the signs.
Another complaint is that for some residents-only area permits in Blackburn there is no charge. How come?
When phoning to the Town Hall to complain, I was told that enforcement was nothing to do with them, although I am of the opinion that I am the customer of the one I pay the money to.
