NUNEATON ... 9

SEDGLEY PARK ... 38

SEDGLEY Park were indebted to some fine individual performances after they hammered a poor Nuneaton side.

Gareth Roberts, Paul Keys, Huw Thomas, Tim Fourie, Willie Stockdale, Richard Senior, Kevin Yates and Mark Lloyd were all exceptional and paved the way for Park's second victory of the season.

Nuneaton had several new signings on show, including ex-Leicester and England prop Danny Garforth and ex-Leicester scrum half Jamie Hamilton but they lacked the co-ordinated team spirit provided by Sedgley.

Arno De Jager started what turned out to be a rout with a third-minute penalty. This was soon followed by a great solo effort from Dave McCormack who picked the ball from the base of the ruck, provided by these forwards and scampered 40 yards to score.

The try was converted by De Jager and park were already 10-0 up.

Nuneaton settled down and had their best spell during which Lee Cassell slotted three penalties, interspersed with a try from right-winger Ross Bullough lurking in the centre to provide the extra man as the ball sped across the field.

Chris Glynn took over the kicking from De Jager, landed a penalty and converted Ian Voortmann's first try for Sedgley allowing Fourie and McCormack to slice through the defence at will.

Glynn added another penalty before Keiran Yates ensued following yet another McCormack break from the scrum.

De Jager resumed the kicking duties, converted the try and rounded the scoring off with a penalty.

A severe lesson for Nuneaton but it could have been far more as more tries went begging following superb breaks by Chris Glynn, Chris Wilkinson, Dave McCormack and a Carlos Hassan charge-down.

This is a very good start to the season for Park and next Saturday they travel to Rugby Topley in the Powergen Cup.
