IT was a case of high fives all round as Prestwich first team finished the season on a triumphant note.
The Heys side defeated lowly Longsight by 98 runs, triggering a series of landmarks.
High One -- Craig Duxbury slammed 144, his sixth century of the season, taking him past the 1,100-run mark.
High Two -- Steven Lorenzini cracked an excellent 80, his highest first team score. Together with Duxbury, they put on 204 for the first wicket.
High Three -- Their total of 269 was the highest of the season, and was the 13th time the side had scored more than 200 this year.
High Four -- Leading wicket-taker Andy Bradley surpassed his previous best in a season by taking three wickets, pushing him up to 61.
High Five -- Sixteen-year-old Alex Blake grabbed 5 for 20, his first five wicket haul for the side.
With Ian Walker having already set a league record for the most runs in a season (more than 1,200) by an amateur, skipper Steve Orrell qualifying for the league averages with nearly 500 runs, and the batting prowess of several teenagers blossoming, it has been a prolific season for Prestwich in the run-making stakes.
But their failure to bowl sides out has cost them vital points and is a major factor in their league finishing position of 10th.
However, that was not the case on Saturday as they routed Longsight for 171.
It was a welcome win for the home side who had been defeated by the visitors in the last two years.
Simms hit a quick 30 before Lorenzini took a well-judged catch at point, and despite an unbeaten 58 from Mohammed, and useful innings of 35 from Parch and 24 from Cameron, Bradley (3 for 39), Andy Taylor (2 for 42) and Blake shared the wickets between them.
Blake's pace proved a handful for the opposition as he sent the wickets skittling four times, and with 10 and 11 batsmen Shah and Newall dismissed off successive balls, he now has to wait until next season for a chance to complete his hat-trick.
Prestwich 2nd team's chances of winning the double faltered at the last hurdle. Having captured the Hulme Trophy for the second successive year, their bid to lift the league title went up in smoke after they totalled a mere 52 at Longsight.
