BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness today said he's not interested in talking to Tottenham about the vacant manager's job at White Hart Lane.

Souness has been heavily linked with a return to the club where he started his career, even before Glenn Hoddle got sacked last night.

However, the Ewood chief insists he's perfectly happy where he is as he looks to break into the top five with Rovers.

"I know nothing about any jobs, even though my name was being linked in the papers over the weekend," said Souness.

"I'm happy where I am, I've got a good job here, and it's not for me to be commenting about jobs which are available or not available.

"I can only repeat I've got a good job at Blackburn and I'm doing my best to hang onto it.

"I believe I've got a good group of players here and I enjoy working with the people I see here everyday."

Hoddle became the Premiership's first managerial casualty of the season yesterday as he paid the price for Spurs' disappointing start to the season.

A terse statement issued by the club said the former England manager had been relieved of his duties because of an 'unacceptable lack of progress and any visible sign of improvement.'

Spurs are currently third from bottom in the table with four points from their opening six matches.

But Hoddle has been under pressure for some time with the Londoners having amassed just 22 points from their last 23 games -- the worst points tally by any Premiership club in 2003.

Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has emerged as the early favourite to succeed Hoddle.

But Souness and Charlton manager Alan Curbishley are also thought to figure on the club's short-list.

Souness certainly has the kind of credentials Spurs would be looking for after ushering in a revolution at Rovers, transforming the club from First Division strugglers to a top six Premiership force.

However, he has consistently stressed he is happy at Ewood, where he's free to get on with his job without the constraints of working for a PLC.
