MORE than 100 walkers took part in Cliviger's annual Scarlett's Stride yesterday, raising more than £1,400 for the St John the Divine Parish Church restoration fund.
The sun shone down on all those who took part in the 12-mile walk through the countryside around Cliviger, which is now in its sixth year.
Organiser Eric Wrathall said: "This was our sixth annual walk and once again the weather was kind to us. I would like to thank our sponsors, Shanks Landfill of Cliviger and all those people who contributed in making this another excellent family day out.
"It was marvellous to see so many youngsters taking part with their parents. The walk brought quite a few people from out of the area, many returning to Burnley to join up with their families. It has now become a traditional annual walk for many Burnley people".
One youngster, ten-year-old Adam Nixon, from Cliviger, was due to take part in last year's walk, but was unable to after suffering a collapsed lung.
This year however, he was determined to get round the 12-mile route.
The youngest girl to complete the walk this year was Chloe Pound, from Burnley, who did the circuit in just over five hours.
