COMPANIES in Blackburn are being urged to sponsor the annual bonfire and firework show.
Organisers, the Blackburn Rotaract Club, are making the appeal for companies to help worthy causes, including the main charity this year which is the East Lancashire Hospice.
Adele Birtwistle, bonfire co-ordinator for the Rotaract Club, said: "The bonfire costs over £6,000 to stage. The lower we keep these costs, the more money we will be able to donate.
"This is one of the largest annual events in the Blackburn calendar drawing thousands of people from the local community providing plenty of publicity.
"Major sponsors may also get the chance to get their name in lights as part of the firework display."
Last year the event raised £5,500 for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Magic Eye Scanner Appeal.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 1.
