THE future for school buses in Bury could soon be yellow!
For transport bosses hope to extend their successful yellow school bus schemes (currently operating in Stockport, Wigan and Tameside) to other areas of Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority say more pupils are using the yellow buses, and that their behaviour has also improved.
Councillor Roger Jones, authority chairman, says: "The unique features of the new services, such as reserved seats, regular drivers, CCTV and the introduction of a code of conduct, are all attracting positive comment.
"We are now looking at ways to incorporate some of the features of the new services into parts of our existing school bus provision, so that more schools can benefit from the improvements to the services."
Positive feedback has been received from pupils, parents and schools. The Department for Transport is currently evaluating the benefits of the yellow school bus. It will report its findings in October.
