THE traditional sounds of Hapton remembrance service could be under threat after it was revealed the regular bugler would be unable to play at this year's event.
The Last Post is usually played but this year the parish council has been unable to find anyone to perform the task after the regular musician left to attend university.
Bugler Elizabeth Duckworth, 20, who has played since she was a girl, last year left to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music.
Twelve months ago David Wetherall, from Colne, who played the bugle during his time in the Army, read about the dilemma and decided to step into the breach.
But this year David has already agreed to play at an event in Colne and the parish council is once again appealing for a bugler for the service on Sunday, November 9.
Parish councillor Nessie Hargreaves said: "David was a real knight in shining armour for us last year, but is unfortunately not able to help us out again. We could play a tape but would be much better if we would have a live player.
"I would like to appeal for anyone who is able to play the bugle and is available for our service in November to get in touch and help us out."
Nessie can be contacted on 01282 771407.
