"EAT a Rainbow - Beat a Stroke" is the theme for Stroke Awareness Week when people in Blackburn and Darwen will be encouraged to tuck into more fruit and vegetables.
The Stroke Association will stage hold a health awareness day in the foyer of the old town hall, Blackburn on Friday, October 3 between 11am and 3pm.
Nurses will monitor blood pressure, because someone whose blood pressure is high is six times more likely to have a stroke than someone of the same age with normal blood pressure.
Dieticians will advise about eating a healthy diet, reducing cholesterol levels and cutting down on salt.
Free fruit donated by Marks and Spencer will also be available.
