APPARENTLY, the A666 Bolton Road in Darwen shows one of the highest levels of pollution in the area, caused mainly by the gridlock that occurs regularly from the Darwen/Blackburn boundary to south of the Circus.
This is not surprising to Darweners who for years have put up with traffic light systems which have priorities, times, etc changed seemingly at random. Is this a deliberate policy to slow down traffic? If so, it is certainly working.
Any department which takes two years to realise that a filter was necessary on the Moss Gap/M65 traffic lights must lose all credibility. Darweners will look forward to the day when Darwen's traffic lights are organised in a professional and logical manner.
J ADAMSON, Braeside Lane, Darwen.
