WELL, we got exactly what we deserved in Turkey - nothing!
It's enjoyable playing in Europe and going away on trips like that, but the bottom line is if you don't work hard enough, then you don't get any rewards in this game.
And if you don't match these so-called lesser teams for effort then your ability doesn't get the chance to shine through.
I think we were guilty of showing them too much respect. We knew Genclerbirligi were always going to be up for it because this was their Cup Final, their chance to play a Premier League team and pull off an upset, which is exactly what happened.
We let them play, and we let them enjoy themselves, instead of really going after them and forcing them to play at our tempo.
We let them dominate midfield, they were strong at the back, and they had a willing worker up front who was prepared to put the effort in by looking to get into the channels. That's all he was. There was nothing special to him. He just had a bit of pace, that's all, and we didn't cope with it.
You don't want to single people out because, at the end of the day, you defend as a team. However, at the moment individual errors are costing us dearly and until they are eradicated then we'll end up leaking goals all season.
I don't remember too much about the first goal. You can maybe argue that Brad should have headed it somewhere else but in fairness to their lad he finished it well.
As for the second one, I thought it was offside, to be honest, but when you go away those are the decisions which can go against you.
And the third one was an awful goal to give away.
The lads are absolutely gutted. To go out at this stage without even having one glamorous tie would be an insult to ourselves.
All the hard work we put in last season could be thrown out of the window in one game.
Everyone was buzzing when we got into Europe and I, personally, enjoyed this trip.
I know everyone talks about Turkey being hostile but we never experienced any of that. I thought it was a pleasant place to come and all the people were really nice.
But if we want to sample any more trips like that then we've got to pull our fingers out.
On the positive side, we nicked an away goal and that might still be enough to push us through.
We've got to look to get an early goal in the second leg and then stop them from scoring.
I know we are capable of doing that. They are not a great side. We just made them look great.
