BLACKBURN with Darwen's smallest school has gained top marks from school inspectors.
Tockholes CE Primary School, which has just 48 pupils and only two classes, has been commended by Ofsted.
Headteacher Barbara Cocken was praised for her vision, energy and leadership during a period of significant change.
The inspectors said it was an effective school with many strengths.
Mrs Cocken said: "We are all thrilled with the report.
"I am particularly pleased that the inspectors valued the importance we place on relationships and teamwork as well as achieving high academic standards.
"The fantastic report has spurred us all on to achieve even greater things for our children".
The Ofsted report noted good leadership and management by the headteacher, who is supported by knowledgeable and committed governors and staff. The report says the pupils' attitudes and values towards school are very good.
Councillor Mahfooz Hussain, executive member for education and lifelong learning, said: "Congratulations and well done to the school for receiving such an excellent report.
"The strong leadership and teamwork of this school is a clear indication of how hard the teachers, pupils, and headteacher have been working over the past two years."
