REACTION to my views is always welcome -- even if it does take two years.
That's how long it is since I wrote about accidentally tuning in to the enjoyable film "Hindle Wakes" one wet Friday afternoon.
Former Westleigh factory lass Amy Jones, who saw the 1952 film just before she married, read that piece and has been trying to find a copy of the film ever since.
She's been down all avenues to trace one, without success, apart from a silent movie version from 1927.
Now Amy 'who is going mad' to get hold of the film has even been on to the BBC to ask them to show it again.
As a last resort I'm putting out an appeal. Did anyone record the film about factory lasses on a trip to Blackpool and keep it for posterity? If so would they be kind enough to loan it? Contact me on 01942 672241 or e-mail me at lesley.richards@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk
I'd also belatedly like to thank long time Twist Lane correspondent Eunice Gray, who around the same time sympathised with my fitted-sheet poser and promised to send me a solution.
A set of four stretch bands, which look like giant suspender belts, for securing the corners under the mattress arrived on my desk recently -- and they work. Cheers, Eunice.
