PATIENTS are advised to allow more time to travel to appointments at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, because of roadworks.
Health chiefs are warning of possible delays as construction of the £100m single site development, which started last month, gathers pace.
A new roundabout and cycle paths are being built on Haslingden Road which will serve the new entrance when the hospital is finished in 2006.
Temporary traffic lights are operating and are expected to be there until next February.
East Lancashire Hospitals Trust director of operations John Dell said: "There may be a need to allow more time for the journey to hospital."
