FIVE hardy fundraisers completed a 10k marathon on Sunday (September 21) to raise vital cash for Bury Shopmobility.
They set out from Heaton Park and arrived at their destination two and a half hours later at Bury Town Hall to be greeted by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Wilf Davison and Mrs Maureen Davison.
Two of the fundraisers, Bury Shopmobility chairman Alan Norton and member Peter Leach, used motorised transport.
Volunteer Peter James-Robinson did the 10k marathon in his manual wheelchair while walking the distance were volunteers Mary Palmer and John Thorpe. The fearless five hope to have raised up to £700 to enable Bury Shopmobility to buy a new three-wheel scooter. During the 10k journey, friends and family provided support and back-up.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is asked to contact Bury Shopmobility on 764 9966.
