A MAN who sold heroin to undercover police and committed other crime to raise drugs money has been jailed for five years.
Colin Greenfield, 26, of Water Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to three charges of supplying.
Magistrates had committed him to Preston Crown Court for sentence for a burglary and six shoplifting offences.
Arthur Stuttard, prosecuting, said two undercover police officers were in the Woodnook area of Accrington in January, watching a home in Clement Street, regarding another person.
They were directed to an address on Wilfred Street where Greenfield answered the door.
The defendant went on to supply both officers with a £10 heroin wrap. The next month Greenfield was contacted via a mobile phone. He met police in an alleyway, directly opposite a playground full of children. There, a policeman bought a £10 heroin wrap.
Greenfield also admitted stealing a boiler from an unoccupied house. The shoplifting offences involved him taking around £30 worth of goods on each occasion.
Philip Andrews, defending, said Greenfield had a long history of heroin dependence but was now drug free and there has been an improvement in his physical and mental well being.
