A NELSON-based company has been selected as one of 10 in the country to share its tips for the top with other businesses.

Printoff Graphic Arts, of Lomeshaye Industrial Estate, has won a place in the Investors in People Tipped for Success competition.

Hundreds of businesses nationwide entered the contest to have their tip for corporate success included in a Little Book of Tips alongside advice from celebrities such as Carol Vorderman.

Printoff started in Nelson more than 25 years ago in managing director Allan Buck's spare bedroom with a £300 loan and now employs 50 people and has offices in Salford and London.

Former Pendle Councillor Mr Buck said: "To be recognised nationally is very exciting and I am pleased that my tip may help other small and medium sized businesses.

"I have always known it is important to consider all the advice you can when running a business and I hope in some way I will help other companies to prosper and grow as my own business has."

Mr Buck's tip, which will be included in the book, is "As your company grows, do not look for someone the same as you. They do not exist, so accept the fact that everyone is different.

"Value that difference as alternative ways of tackling growth and without having a blame culture, give staff the opportunity to learn and develop from their mistakes."

Business Link workforce development manager Nadine Ray said: "To have one of our clients recognised nationally is great news.

"It is high praise indeed to be included in this publication and I would like to offer my congratulations to Allan and his team."
