SEVEN-year-old Alistair Law won the opportunity of a lifetime -- a day's training at Blackburn Rovers' academy in front of the club's coaches.

Alistair, a Balderstone Primary School pupil, won the first heat of 'Soccer Idols', a Pop Idol-style search for football talent of the future.

And he was also presented with a medal and T-shirt by two of Blackburn Rovers' brightest young talents, England Under-21 star James McEverley and Jerome Watt, to commemorate his achievement in the Chorley heat, held at Parklands High School.

The competition is organised by Blackburn Rovers, 97.4 Rock FM and H2, a new range of drinks from Lancashire-based company Macaw,

Marnie Mumby, Macaw's sales and marketing director, said: "Alistair really impressed us all and to be chosen as one of the most promising young players was no mean feat -- he was up against some tough competition."

Anthony Barlow, head of football in the community at Rovers, added: "I am really looking forward to seeing what Alistair can show us at the academy."
