REGARDING the remarks of Blackburnians running down the people of Darwen for the way they stick up for their town, they have nothing to shout about apart from lumps of scrap stuck on pipes in Church Street.
Can anyone, apart from the comedian who squandered the money, tell me what the sculptures are supposed to represent? If so, they must have a warped sense of humour.
Then there is the carbuncle on the Cathedral wall. I could go on and on about this town, but I have not read or heard any of the Darwen-knockers complaining of the way this money is spent, so do not ridicule the Darreners -- at least they have the guts to stick up for their town.
MR G PILKINGTON, St Michael's Court, Daisyfield, Blackburn.
