GRANDPARENTS sat back and relaxed as pupils at two schools showed them how much they are loved.
The events yesterday at Oakhill College, in Wiswell Lane, Whalley, and Peel Park Primary, in Alice Street, Accrington, were to commemorate today's National Grandparents Day.
Students at Oak Hill served 70 grandparents high tea, while pupils at Peel Park held a morning of entertainment, including song, poetry and paintings, for 100 grandparents.
Peel Park head Hugh Burkinshaw said: "The pupils were very proud to do this. It was a lovely morning. The grandparents are so often involved in bringing them to school, but seldom get inside the building.
"So the grandchildren were very pleased when they could come in."
