YOUNGSTERS in East Lancashire are set to become busy bookworms thanks to a month-long series of fun library events.
The "Shout about Books" festival, which has been organised by Lancashire County Council's Library and Information Service, will see 10 children's authors speaking to youngsters about their work as well as plenty of other fun events.
Author David Orme, who has written more than 170 books including 'Heroes and Villains' and 'The Final Whistle', will be visiting libraries and schools to speak about his 18 -year career as a teacher as well as his passion for poetry and football.
Ian Whybrow was also a teacher before his 'Sniff' stories took off and he won acclaim as an author.
He will be chatting about his work, including more Little Wolf's Postbag, which kept Harry Potter off the top of the best sellers' list for more than two weeks.
Author Sandra Glover is another former teacher who will be entertaining youngsters with stories about her life and work which includes titles such as 'The Girl Who Knew' and 'The Nowhere Boy'.
Jeremy Strong's first job was putting jam in doughnuts, but he is now a renowned author and famous for his books Dinosaur Pox and Lightening Lucy.
Lancashire County Council's Cabinet Member for Cultural Services and Communications, County Councillor Marcus Johnstone, said: "Last year's "Shout about Books" event was a huge success and we are hoping that even more parents will take their children to local libraries and enjoy the many lively events on offer."
