GLAZED panels weighing nearly 900 pounds each have been slotted into Blackburn's Pavilion development.
The panels were hoisted by crane onto the framework of the buildings in Church Street.
They will form two storey glass structures connecting the three pavilion buildings, which are undergoing a major restoration.
The buildings are being transformed into shops and restaurants.
Councillor Andy Kay, executive member for regeneration said: "This is another important stage in the completion of the pavilions scheme.
"The regeneration of these historic buildings means that true progress is being made to preserve Blackburn's heritage and at the same time create a new and exciting attraction for the town."
The £1.3 million refurbishment has been funded by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, the Northwest Development Agency and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The work is due to be completed by the end of the year. The buildings are currently being marketed to attract tenants and the council said a considerable number of enquiries have already been received.
