HAT-TRICK hero Lutel James snatched a last-gasp equaliser to extend Accrington Stanley's unbeaten run to seven games on Saturday -- but he took a nasty whack in the face for his troubles.

James pounced to seize a point for John Coleman's team with a 90th minute equaliser as the Reds drew 3-3 with Woking in a thrilling encounter at the Interlink Stadium.

However, the well-travelled striker got caught in the face by a flailing boot from Woking defender Neil Smith in the process which left him with stud marks down his face.

"In the past I've reacted in situations like that and ended up getting sent off and banned, but when you end up missing games like that it's a waste of time," said James.

"At the end of the day, the team has got to come first. There's no point in getting sent off. I've got to keep my head in situations like that and keep my discipline."

James left the ground clutching the matchball after his latest treble took his tally for the season to an impressive eight goals.

But the former Bury striker still wasn't completely satisfied with his afternoon's work, insisting that Stanley should have bagged all three points on the day.

"It was a great game to play in and watch," said James.

"Obviously, I'm happy with the goals. I've got eight or nine this season now which is a great start for me.

"But I still felt we should have won on Saturday. When you end up scoring three goals at home that should be enough to get you all three points."
