A RAMBOTTOM pub hosted a revival of the War of the Roses on Sunday (Sep 28), with the official world black pudding throwing contest!
Bridge Street was closed to cars throughout the day as competitors lined up to throw the traditional Bury delicacy at Yorkshire puddings balanced high on scaffolding outside the Royal Oak pub.
Hundreds of competitors took part, some travelling from as far as Australia, but the event was eventually won by Nick Connor (33), of Bolton Street, Ramsbottom, who knocked off six Yorkshire puddings and scooped the first prize of £100 and a trophy.
All money raised at the event will go towards the Stubbins Community Trust.
