DARWEN'S St Barnabas' School is taking a pro-active approach and going out looking for customers.
School governors have produced a glossy brochure extolling the school's strengths of providing a far-ranging education in a friendly and caring environment and it will hold an open evening tomorrow and an open day on Tuesday, October 7.
Headteacher Margaret Mitchell said: "Over the past couple of years we have had fewer children in our reception class and this seriously affects a small school like ours as funding is largely based on the school roll.
"Our reserves have almost disappeared and like many other schools we will be in trouble in a year or two.
"We realised we had to do something about it and we are now actively going out and encouraging parents to come and look at our school.
"We are all very proud of our achievements and believe we have a lot to offer. Now we have a glossy brochure and two open days to promote the school and we are confident all the hard work will pay off."
Tomorrow's open evening will take place at 7.30pm followed by the open day on Tuesday, which will include three tours at 10am, 11am and 1.15pm.
Interested parents are asked to contact the school on 01254 702996.
