YOUNGSTERS in Lancashire can become busy bookworms thanks to a month-long series of library events.
The Shout about Books festival will see 10 children's authors visiting libraries to speak to youngsters about their work.
Writer David Orme, who has penned more than 170 books, including Heroes and Villains and The Final Whistle, will be visiting libraries and schools to speak about his 18-year career as a teacher, as well as his passion for poetry and football.
Ian Whybrow, who was also a teacher before his Sniff stories took off, will be chatting about his work, including his Little Wolf's Postbag, which kept Harry Potter off the top of the bestsellers' list for more than two weeks.
Author Sandra Glover is another former teacher who will be entertaining youngsters with stories about her life and work, including The Girl Who Knew and The Nowhere Boy.
The events have been organised by Lancashire County Council's Library and Information Service.
Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for cultural services and communications,Marcus Johnstone said: "Last year's Shout about Books event was a huge success and we are hoping that even more parents will take their children to local libraries to enjoy the many lively events on offer."
