THE very idea of identity cards is anathema to me. What a waste of public money.
What good will they be? Criminals will soon find a way of printing bogus ID cards.
And they will be an invasion of privacy, creating a police state, the thought of which makes me shudder.
This government is famous for panic legislation. Remember banning firearms? There are more guns than ever, with more shootings.
They should have known banning only drives things underground, like prohibition of alcohol in America did in the 1920s.
Who wants to be stopped in the street and have to produce an ID card? There was enough of that during the last world war. We have too many plastic cards to carry anyway.
Leave things as they are before we all have to have our foreheads branded with our ID.
