THE closure of the village newsagents will mean that Pendleside Hospice could lose out on £1,000 per year through loss of lottery income.
A volunteer is needed to collect money from the 22 villagers who regularly subscribe to the lottery.

THE Wine Circle will collect wine on Monday and hold a quiz night on October 13.
At the moment, the members are busy gathering the raw materials needed to make into the wines they will enjoy in the coming year.

THE Parochial Church Council is to mark the exceptional service of stalwart Selby Chalk to the church with a presentation to him at the morning service on October 19 at 11am.
All are welcome to the service.
THE Parish Council next meets on Tuesday, October 14, in the Reading Rooms at 7.30pm.
The Red Bag collection service, provided by Coun Brenda Lambert on the last Wednesday of the month, is proving very popular with people coming from as far afield as Pike Hill and Cliviger.
Brenda will be distributing bags from the Reading Rooms on Wednesday, October 29.
