ON September 22 my wife and I were in Blackburn town centre at the zebra crossing outside Morrison's supermarket when I happened to look toward the grandmother and child statue in the Boulevard.
There, two obviously drunken men -- I can't call them youths because both looked well into their thirties -- were violently kicking the child's teddy bear, presumably trying to part it from the pavement.
At that moment, they noticed I was watching them and greeted me with a tirade of foul language and obscene gestures.
As I turned to walk away, I was further abused and jeered by the rest of the gang who were enjoying cans of lager and bottles of wine in a nearby bus shelter.
To paraphrase an old western movie title, the Boulie Gang really do ride again!
