A SOCCER boot signed by England skipper David Beckham and a cricket bat autographed by the England team are two of the items to go under the hammer at an auction on Friday.
The sale is being staged by Bury C of E High School to help raise funds for its new sports hall and to boost its charity work for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Bury's Village Hotel is holding the fund-raising evening. Also up for grabs is a week's holiday for two in the United Arab Emirates and a weekend break in London.
Silent bids can be placed prior to the event. Details of lots and instructions on how to place bids can be obtained from Jackie Vet at the school on 797 6236.
Meanwhile, work on the sports hall is expected to be open next Easter when the school's current gym and changing rooms will be converted into a new library/ICT resource centre and extra classrooms. Mr Phil Grady, headteacher, said: "This will allow us to accommodate an extra form of entry. From September 2004, we shall offer places to 155 pupils, 26 more than at present."
