A SCHEME which deals with the effects of alcohol misuse on women has scooped a lottery jackpot.
The Leigh-based Willow Project has been allocated £299,972 by the National Lotteries Charities Board and will finance the group for a further three years.
Manager Jean Stitt said: "We are delighted the service will be maintained and extended.
"Alcohol misuse causes many problems including family breakdown, chronic health problems, financial difficulties and is associated with criminal behaviour including domestic violence.
"By providing a unique service we are supporting women not only to improve their quality of life but also that of other members of their family."
Willow has four drop-in services across the borough offering a full range of support including one to one, alternative therapies, group and individual support, information and activities. The service is free and confidential.
