COUNCILLORS have been given an update on the development of Darwen's new £11m health centre so they can help to keep local residents informed.
The layout of the new three-floor development, which is to be built behind the Green Street leisure centre, was revealed to the public in July and the plans were displayed in Darwen Library's foyer.
At a council meeting, plans for traffic, transport and pedestrian access to the proposed development were outlined.
According to a council report, Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust said it had received positive feedback from residents who had seen the plans after the trust agreed to consult the public.
A free bus service to the health centre was also discussed.
The report said the proposed service would cost £10,000 a year. A provider for the service had still not been found.
Blackburn with Darwen councillors also agreed to continue working with the Primary Care Trust to agree a suitable plan for access into the new health centre.
The new Darwen centre will be home to seven GPs and a range of treatment suites from speech therapy to complimentary medicines.
