PADDY Flanagan, a resident of High Peak Lodge Nursing Home, took a vow of silence last Thursday to raise money for a new minibus.
The eighty-eight year old did not utter a word for two hours which was a challenge for the man described by Activities Co-ordinator Linda Chomley as "the life and soul of the home". He should collect at least £200 for his effort which will start off the minibus fund.
The Home's current minibus is out of action and a new one will cost in the region of £24,000. A mode of transport is vital for the Home which organises a lot of trips out to the theatre, Blackpool, Southport and the Trafford Centre.
Further fund-raising is being organised: a Handmade Canadian quilt will be raffled off and staff plan to do something at New Year. The Home welcomes any donations.
