THE mild and sunny weather -- with occasional rain -- has seen the best reports come from Elton reservoir, with quality bream and perch from wall-side pegs.
On Saturday, 50 people took part in the North West NFA Junior and Intermediate Regional Championship, on the Leeds-Liverpool canal at Halsall.
In the first junior match -- under-16s -- top weight fell to Jack Moulton (Liverpool and Dist) with 3-9-8. In second place, Robert Conroy (Warrington AA B) had 2-13-0 and in third place, Ian Thomas (Warrington AA B) took 1-14-0.
The result saw Warrington AA A take 19 points, Warrington AA B 16 and Liverpool and Dist 13.
In the Intermediate match -- under-18s -- Karl Green (Lymm AC) had 3-15-0, Shaun Keaveney (Leigh) took 3-5-12, and S. Hirst (Warrington AA) 2-13-12.
In the Pilsworth Fishery Open held on the Carp Lake, Dave Keenan (Whitworth Valley) repeated his success of the previous week with 14-5-0. In second place, Roy Gough (Fisherman's Way) took 9-5-0 and in third place, G. Mallinson (Oldham) took 5-5-0.
Four-times world champion Alan Scotthorne almost shattered the venue record on peg four on Partridge with 137-0-0 in the Wednesday Open, held on Woodland Lakes, Thirsk. In second place, Alan Sharman (Map Elton) took 87-12-0, and in third, A. Hampson (Hirst Tackle) 79-12-0.
On Sunday in the Drennan Super League match, fished by 128 anglers on the Shropshire Union canal at Pendleford, Mark Addy (Drennan NW) had top weight of 29-12-0.
In second place, Jimmy Henis (Saints) remained fish-less for three hours but eventually caught four chub, best 5-2-0, to weigh in with 16-11-4. In third place, J. Shelland (Leicester Sensas) took 13-8-5.

THE monthly meeting will be held at the Waterloo Hotel, Manchester Road, on Monday, October 13, at 8pm.

THE next trip is tomorrow (Saturday) aboard Aqua Star for a 10-12 hour trip, sailing at 7am.
The meeting will be held on Sunday, October 5, at 1.30pm.
BURY SENIOR SECTION
THE Dennerley Trophy match takes place on the Island Lodge on Sunday, draw at 9am, fish from 10am to 3pm.
On Saturday, October 11, there is a working party on Parker's Lodge at Elton Vale, to strim vegetation on the approach road, car par and bank-side paths. Meet on the banks at 9am.
Bury Society permits are now half price -- £13.50 for seniors, £6.75 concessions and £2.75 for juniors.
