HOW refreshing it is to discover (LET, September 26) that at last illegally-obtained cash and property is now being confiscated by the courts!
Would it not be a great incentive for Lancashire Constabulary, should both they and the county council be allowed by the Chancellor to keep 60 per cent of all funds seized, for it to be offset against the ever-increasing charges made on people's council tax bills?
This might give the police the backbone to pursue financial-gain crime with the same enthusiasm which they extend against the motorists of the area.
Mind you, this system would not need a quango, similar to the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety, as all monies would be officially accounted for by the courts.
