WORRIED health bosses are renewing their pleas for the elderly to have flu jabs.
Officials fear myths and uncertainty are putting pensioners off, including the belief that the vaccination will give them flu.
Bury Primary Care Trust wants to stop any misconceptions as part of its campaign to vaccinate those over 65.
It points out that the flu vaccine is not live and therefore cannot lead to flu; that flu is highly infectious and a jab is the most effective protection; that the onset of flu is rapid and cane lead to serious illnesses like bronchitis and pneumonia.
