CORONATION Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh returned to her roots when she opened a new extension at her old school.
The Hyndburn born actress, who was headgirl at Hyndburn Park Primary School, was invited back for the official opening of two new mezzanine floors.
One of the new additions is for use as an infant classroom and the second has been made into a state of the art computer suite complete with Promethean interactive white board. Beneath the computer suite is a new library and resource area.
Julie, who plays transsexual Hayley Cropper in the ITV soap, was also reunited with her former teacher Margaret Jopson during her visit.
