"LET'S go for it!" That's the message from Accrington Stanley midfielder Gordon Armstrong.

The former Burnley player, who switched from Turf Moor to the Interlink Express Stadium when his contract with the Clarets ran out at the end of last term, believes Stanley have got what it takes to earn a play-off spot this season.

And he is confident the team can build on their seven-game unbeaten run.

"If we defend well in this league and don't give too many goals away, then we'll be fine," he said.

"We've got plenty of players who are good going forward, the strikers are in great form so we are certainly capable of creating a lot of chances and scoring goals."

He added: "We've got good players and there's no reason why we shouldn't push on to get in the play-offs.

"To go somewhere like Dagenham and Redbridge with 10 men for most of the game and get a result was a great confidence builder for the lads.

"Our biggest worry is probably suspensions, but we haven't coped too badly so far to go seven games on the trot unbeaten."

Armstrong said he was enjoying his Nationwide Conference campaign with Stanley and was impressed with the standard.

He said: "It's quite tough because there are a lot of good players in the league and a lot of full-time professionals."

But added: "I would like to play a little bit more but I can't really complain because I've been involved in every game and as long as I stay injury free I'll be happy."
