Burnley FC Girls ...8
Venue: Glossop Town FC Stadium, Glossop
Hitchen 4, Rohman 2, Ronson 2
THE guile of Laura Hitchen and the pace of her strike partner Kelly Ronson proved too much Glossop North End as Burnley Girls came away with a thumping 8-0 victory.
The visitors took the lead in the third minute when Hitchen latched onto a Ronson cross and scored with a low angled drive into the far corner.
Ronson was again the provider in the ninth minute when she played in a short ball for Hitchen to make it a brace.
The Clarets were now running the show and the only surprise was that they did not increase their lead until the 30th minute.
Hitchen repaid the favour to Ronson playing a short ball into the box for Ronson to score with a six-yard drive.
The only blot on a brilliant performance from Hitchen came in the 41st minute when she cracked a penalty against the crossbar.
On the stroke of half-time the Clarets made it 4-0 when Hitchen latched onto a Toni Bell throw in and played a beautifully weighted through ball for Joanne Rohman to beat the offside trap and slot home from a tight angle.
The second half was dj vu and the clarets went nap in the 52nd minute when Levi Wensley put in a forceful run from midfield and played a great defence splitting ball for player of the match Ronson to round the keeper and score from an acute angle.
A 57th minute short corner paid dividends when a good one-two between Hitchen and Laura Dobson resulted in Hitchen finding the back of the net for her hat-trick.
The 63rd minute saw the goal of the match when Rohman, receiving the ball from Hitchen, left the keeper stranded with a 22-yarder into the top corner.
The final goal came three minutes from the end when Stephanie Meeks passed to Rohman who quickly switched play to the unmarked Hitchen who with the help of a big deflection made it 8-0 from 10 yards.
