A FATHER of three was found with a cocktail of drugs when searched by police.

Michael Wilcocks, 35, of Scotland Bank Terrace, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possession of ecstasy, amphetamine and cannabis.

He was given a two years conditional discharge and told to pay £60 costs by Blackpool magistrates, who ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Prosecutor Wendy Lloyd said that on August 24 the defendant was arrested after arguing with his girlfriend in George Street.

When searched at Blackpool police headquarters, Wilcocks was found with two ecstasy tablets, three small pieces of cannabis and a little bit of amphetamine.

Carl Gaffney, defending, said: "It is sad to know the same allegations of drugs in the town are still coming to light.

"Blackpool was perhaps one of the first towns to suffer from drugs problems and it has spread to the rest of the country."

The defence added that the drugs were for Wilcocks' personal use.

"He is unemployed at the moment. His three children reside with him at the weekends," said the defence.
