HEADTEACHER of Habergham High School, Burnley, Stuart Smith, praised pupils and staff at the school's annual awards night.

Guest of honour was John Fairbrother who recently retired as headteacher at Ightenhill County Primary School after 20 years.

Mr Smith said: "The relationships between Habergham and our many feeder primary schools is a crucial one in developing as seamless a transition as possible for our youngest pupils as they embark on their secondary school careers.

" It is the joint efforts of our staff along with our colleagues in the primary sector, such as John, that allow for individual development and continued success for all.

"Considered in combination our GCSE and Advanced level results provide ample confirmation that Habergham provides a top-class education for all students of all abilities."
